But the frustrating part is, they are not aware of the same. Rather they are satisfied by assuming the defect as their bad luck. Thus they are thinking about more babies. They are also unaware of the precautionary measures which they have to go through in the pregnancy period. Most of the new born babies are not exposed to proper medication. In the beginning the parents could not detect the abnormalities that have got rise after the birth. Gradually when the baby grows old and deals with the children of his age, he himself comes across many abnormalities in functioning. He may have a serious breathing problem which means that his lung was affected due to the side effect of defective drugs.
A defect known as Omphalocele is normally detected when a child is inside the mother’s womb. This phenomenon is observed when the mother goes through the procedure of ultrasonography. This defect is very similar to that of hernia. Here all the abnormal organs of baby along with its intestine protrude out of navel. This is just because the mother had used the SSRI antidepressant drug while she was carrying the baby in her womb. Another type of birth defect is known as cranial birth defect. This is a popular and a peculiar side effect that is having connection with the joints. As we know that, the brain of a baby carries on growing till he grows up. Here the defect is about closing of the joints between the bones of the skull which in turn effects the growth of a baby’s brain. There is a specific treatment of the same. The only treatment for this is a surgery which can balance the symmetrical condition of the skull. This surgery can also bring the brain to grow and get it to its normal position. Since the surgery is for a new born baby, it is very risky to go for the operation. Rather it is advisable for all the mothers to avoid these Zoloft drugs.
Also the side effect of these SSRI drug involves heart defects in a baby. The heart defect can also lead to a threat of its life. This heart problem might be confused by the hereditary effect. But the cause of the same is the application and consumption of Zoloft antidepressant drug in the earlier stage of the pregnant lady.
